Optical metrology with image processing is used for non-contact dimensional measurement of test parts. Frequent applications are inspections of flat or rotationally symmetrical parts. The inspection takes place at standstill or in a continuous process.
Due to the non-contact measuring principle, optical measuring technology is basically very flexible and can be used for a very wide range of parts. Areas of application include 100 % inspection, even at high speed and with large quantities. Quality control of random samples is also part of this. These so-called machine vision systems are used in the production environment or in the laboratory. The 2D and 2.5D measurement is used to check parts, shafts, punched strips as well as turned, pressed and punched parts made of metal or plastic in bulk.
